You’ve probably heard of platelet rich plasma (PRP) which is well known for its skin rejuvenating properties. Over the past decade, it has been a popular treatment called the ‘Vampire Facial’. At Elements Medical we use the advanced next generation PRP known as Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) in many of our skin and hair loss treatments. Injectable PRF is a unique rejuvenation technique that uses your own blood fibrin.
PRF is saturated with a much greater concentration of growth factors (responsible for wound healing and skin rejuvenation) than standard PRP. It also contains all important stem cells, which are the bodies foundation for regeneration. We are able to create injectable PRF using your own blood plasma, and once injected, the activated concentrated platelets start accelerating healing and kick-starting the regeneration process, producing a gradual, cumulative, and long-lasting effect. This gives our PRF treatment potent collagen and elastin stimulating properties, resulting in tightened, lifted, and more youthful skin.
Because PRF forms a fibrin matrix when injected into the skin, it traps the growth factors within it, which are then released slowly over a much longer period than conventional PRP (several weeks instead of just a few hours).
The treatment begins with a topical numbing cream, which we leave on for 30 minutes. We then take your blood and spin it using a centrifuge to separate the concentrated PRF, which is then drawn up into syringes. Next, we inject your own PRF around the lower eye area, mainly focusing on targeting those fine crepey lines, We then use the remaining PRF as a serum which is applied over the injection sites, followed by the micro-needling treatment which causes a controlled trauma allowing maximum product penetration and activates the skins natural healing response.
