Profhilo is consistently one of the most requested treatments at Elements Medical — and with good reason. In a market where new injectables appear regularly and claims frequently outrun evidence, Profhilo has earned its reputation through a decade of consistent clinical results and a formulation that is genuinely unlike anything else available.
What distinguishes it is not simply what it contains — ultra-high-concentration hyaluronic acid — but how it behaves once injected. Profhilo does not stay where it is placed in the way that a conventional filler does. Its exceptional spreadability allows it to flow naturally through the tissue from each injection point, distributing through the dermis and stimulating a broad biological response: four types of collagen, two forms of elastin and a sustained improvement in the skin’s capacity to retain moisture and maintain its structural integrity.
The result is skin that looks and feels genuinely different — firmer, better hydrated, more luminous and more elastic — without looking treated. No added volume, no change in the shape or proportions of the face. Simply skin that looks like a better, healthier version of itself.
Profhilo is the treatment we recommend to patients who want to address skin quality comprehensively, who want results that are understated and authentic, and who want a protocol that is simple, well-evidenced and requiring very little of their time.
Our Doncaster clinic is on Thorne Road with on-site parking. We welcome patients from across South Yorkshire including Rotherham, Wakefield, Sheffield, Leeds and Barnsley.
Profhilo is an injectable bio-remodeller — a category of treatment distinct from conventional skin boosters, dermal fillers and collagen stimulators. It is manufactured by IBSA using a proprietary thermal process (NAHYCO Technology) that stabilises ultra-high-concentration hyaluronic acid without the use of BDDE (1,4-butanediol diglycidyl ether) — the chemical cross-linking agent used in conventional fillers and many skin boosters.
This BDDE-free formulation has two important consequences. First, it means the risk of adverse reactions associated with chemical cross-linking agents is eliminated. Second, and more clinically significant, it means the hyaluronic acid in Profhilo is released slowly and sustainably from the injection site rather than staying fixed in place — allowing it to flow through the surrounding tissue, interact with a much broader area of cells and fibroblasts, and generate a wider and more comprehensive biological response than a product that remains where it is placed.
The Profhilo formulation contains equal concentrations of low molecular weight (LMW) and high molecular weight (HMW) hyaluronic acid — 32mg in 2ml. Together, these stimulate four types of collagen (types I, III, IV and VII) and both elastin and tropoelastin, producing improvements in skin structure, firmness, hydration and elasticity across the full depth of the dermis.
It is not a filler. It does not add volume or reshape features. It is a treatment for the quality of the skin itself.
Profhilo’s unique NAHYCO stabilisation technology and its clinical evidence base are documented in peer-reviewed literature. British Journal of Dermatology — hyaluronic acid bio-remodelling
One of the most distinctive features of Profhilo is its delivery method. Conventional skin boosters are administered through a grid of many small injections distributed across the entire treatment surface — typically 30 to 60 injection points for the face alone. Profhilo uses the BAP (Bio Aesthetic Points) technique: just five precisely mapped injection points on each side of the face, for ten injection points in total.
This is possible because of Profhilo’s exceptional spreadability. From each BAP injection point, the product naturally distributes through the surrounding tissue — spreading to reach a broad area of dermis and subcutaneous tissue without requiring a dense injection pattern. Each BAP point is chosen because it corresponds to anatomically safe locations that avoid major vessels and nerves while maximising product distribution into the adjacent tissue.
The result is a treatment that covers the full face with ten comfortable injections rather than dozens. This makes the procedure faster, less uncomfortable and significantly simpler for the patient. It is also one of the factors that makes Profhilo suitable for patients who are nervous about needles or who have previously found multi-injection skin booster protocols more discomfort than they wished to experience.
Profhilo is delivered as a course of two sessions, one month apart. The complete protocol from first session to full results takes approximately ten weeks.

Maintenance
Every Profhilo course at Elements Medical serves three clear therapeutic purposes.
The most fundamental purpose of Profhilo is the restoration of skin quality that has diminished through the natural processes of ageing, environmental exposure and the gradual decline in the body’s ability to produce and retain hyaluronic acid, collagen and elastin. Skin that has lost its spring, its glow and its capacity to hold moisture is skin whose internal biological environment has changed. Profhilo restores this environment directly — not by adding a substance to the skin but by triggering the skin’s own cells to rebuild what has been lost. The collagen and elastin stimulation it produces is real, biologically generated and distributed throughout the treated tissue, producing improvement in firmness and texture that is visible and tangible.
Profhilo is one of the most effective preventive skin treatments available. Patients who begin treatment in their late twenties or thirties — before significant decline has occurred — find that regular courses help to maintain the collagen and elastin levels that keep skin looking youthful, slow the progression of fine lines and loss of elasticity, and sustain the hydration and radiance that characterise healthy skin. This preventive use is not merely cosmetic maintenance; it is a genuine investment in the long-term health and resilience of the skin. Skin that is supported consistently ages more gracefully than skin that is only treated once deterioration is already advanced.
The particular confidence that comes from good skin is something many patients describe as different from the confidence that comes from other aesthetic treatments. Profhilo does not change the face — it improves the canvas. The result is skin that looks healthy, well-rested and glowing in a way that is entirely natural and entirely one’s own. For patients whose skin has become a source of self-consciousness — whether through dullness, dehydration, early lines or loss of firmness — Profhilo offers a restoration that is deeply personal and genuinely meaningful.
Dull, Dehydrated and Tired-Looking Skin
The most immediate and universally applicable use of Profhilo is the improvement of skin that has lost its vitality, hydration and glow. The ultra-high-concentration HA restores the dermis’s capacity to hold moisture, and the collagen stimulation improves the structural quality of the skin — together producing a radiance and freshness that patients often describe as looking rested and well rather than treated.
Loss of Skin Firmness and Elasticity
As elastin and collagen decline with age, skin loses the bounce and firmness that once characterised it. It becomes less able to snap back after movement and begins to look and feel less toned. Profhilo’s stimulation of both elastin and collagen directly addresses this decline, gradually restoring the mechanical properties of the skin over the weeks following each session.
Fine Lines and Early Skin Ageing
Profhilo is particularly effective for the fine, superficial lines caused by skin dehydration and early collagen loss — around the eyes, across the forehead and around the mouth. By restoring hydration and stimulating collagen production from within, it plumps and supports the skin, reducing the appearance of these lines progressively across a course.
Neck and Décolleté Rejuvenation
The neck and décolleté are among the first areas to show visible skin ageing and among the most frequently undertreated. Profhilo’s high spreadability and gentle, low-injection-count delivery make it one of the most practical and effective treatments for these sensitive areas, improving skin quality and hydration where the skin is at its most delicate.
Hand Rejuvenation
The skin on the backs of the hands thins, dries and loses its plumpness with age — revealing tendons and veins and giving a crepey quality that can add years to a person’s apparent age. Profhilo injected into the dorsum of the hands restores hydration and stimulates collagen production, improving texture, firmness and overall skin quality in this frequently overlooked area.
Both Profhilo and Jalupro Super Hydro are injectable skin quality treatments that work through collagen stimulation and dermal hydration — and both are available at Elements Medical. The differences are meaningful and are worth understanding when choosing between them.
Profhilo uses ultra-high-concentration, BDDE-free hyaluronic acid in a 1:1 LMW:HMW ratio, delivered at ten specific BAP points across the face. It works through sustained, slow release of HA from each injection point, generating a broad biological response that stimulates four types of collagen and two forms of elastin. It is completed in two sessions, requires no anaesthetic and has an exceptional safety profile. It is primarily a skin quality and bio-remodelling treatment.
Jalupro Super Hydro adds amino acids and biomimetic peptides to its hyaluronic acid base — providing fibroblast nutrition as well as stimulation, protecting existing collagen from enzymatic breakdown, and delivering hydration at multiple dermal depths simultaneously. It is administered across a wider grid of injection points, requires a course of three sessions, and is suitable for a broader range of body areas including the neck, décolleté and hands.
For patients principally focused on facial skin quality and bio-remodelling, Profhilo’s elegant two-session protocol and exceptional evidence base make it the benchmark choice. For patients seeking a more comprehensive multi-component formulation, or those wanting to treat the neck, décolleté and hands as well as the face in a single product, Jalupro Super Hydro’s broader active profile gives it an advantage. Many patients benefit from alternating between the two — your practitioner can advise on the best approach for your skin and goals.
Patients who are new to injectable treatments frequently ask whether Profhilo or dermal fillers are the right choice for them. The answer depends entirely on what you want to achieve.
Dermal fillers are hyaluronic acid gels placed precisely in specific locations to add volume, reshape features, restore structural definition or lift areas affected by volume loss. They are the right treatment when the concern is a specific feature — lips, cheeks, jawline, chin — or a specific volumetric change such as hollow tear troughs or flat cheeks. They add structure and shape.
Profhilo does not add volume and does not reshape the face. It improves the quality of the skin itself — its hydration, firmness, elasticity and radiance — across the whole treated surface. It is the right treatment when the concern is that the skin looks dull, dehydrated or lacks vitality and glow, rather than a specific structural or volumetric concern.
Many patients benefit from both: Profhilo to improve skin quality and Sculptra or targeted fillers to address volumetric and structural concerns. These treatments work at different layers and serve complementary purposes — your practitioner can design a combined plan if appropriate.
SuneKOS is another injectable bio-revitaliser that combines hyaluronic acid with amino acids to stimulate collagen and elastin production — and patients often compare the two when planning skin quality treatment.
The core distinction is formulation. Profhilo delivers bio-remodelling through ultra-high-concentration, BDDE-free hyaluronic acid alone, working through the slow release and broad distribution of HA to stimulate a comprehensive collagen and elastin response. SuneKOS combines a specific amino acid formula with HA to stimulate fibroblast activity through nutritional as well as mechanical means.
Profhilo is delivered at ten BAP points per face; SuneKOS is delivered at more injection points across the treatment surface. Both are available as face-only or face and neck options. SuneKOS has a dedicated eye formulation — SuneKOS Eye — making it particularly well suited to periorbital concerns.
Both are high-quality treatments with good evidence bases. The right choice depends on your skin, your priorities and whether periorbital improvement is a key goal. Your practitioner will advise.
Profhilo is a treatment where technique matters. The BAP points are anatomically specific — they are not arbitrary; they are placed where Profhilo can spread most effectively and safely through the surrounding tissue. Correct placement maximises the bio-remodelling effect; incorrect placement reduces it. At Elements Medical, our practitioners are trained in the correct BAP technique and are experienced in delivering the full Profhilo protocol consistently and accurately.
We recommend Profhilo because we believe in its results. It is a treatment with a decade of clinical evidence behind it, a formulation that is genuinely innovative and a patient experience that is consistently positive. The combination of simplicity, tolerability, minimal downtime and meaningful results makes it one of the most satisfying treatments we offer.

Profhilo is a BDDE-free, ultra-high-concentration injectable hyaluronic acid treatment that bio-remodels the skin by stimulating four types of collagen and two forms of elastin. Unlike conventional dermal fillers or skin boosters, it does not stay fixed at the injection site — its exceptional spreadability allows it to flow through the surrounding tissue from each injection point, producing a broad and comprehensive improvement in skin firmness, hydration, elasticity and radiance.
Dermal fillers are hyaluronic acid gels that add volume and reshape specific facial features. They stay where they are placed. Profhilo contains no cross-linking agents, does not add volume, does not change the shape of the face and is not intended to address specific features. It improves the quality of the skin itself — its firmness, hydration, elasticity and glow — across the whole treated area.
Most skin boosters are administered through 30 to 60 injection points across the face and remain relatively fixed at each injection site. Profhilo is delivered at only ten BAP points per face and spreads naturally through the surrounding tissue from each point. It also contains no BDDE and is formulated specifically to stimulate four types of collagen and two forms of elastin — a more comprehensive biological response than most skin boosters produce.
BAP stands for Bio Aesthetic Points. It is the specific injection protocol developed for Profhilo — five precisely mapped points on each side of the face (ten in total) that are chosen for their anatomical safety and their ability to maximise product distribution into the surrounding tissue. The BAP technique makes Profhilo one of the most efficient and comfortable injectable skin quality treatments available.
The standard Profhilo protocol is two sessions, one month apart. This is the protocol for which the clinical evidence is established. After completing the two-session course, a maintenance session is recommended every six to nine months to sustain results.
Initial improvement in skin hydration and radiance typically becomes visible within a few days to two weeks of the first session. The full effect of the two-session course develops over four to six weeks after the second session, as collagen and elastin stimulation reaches its peak. Results last approximately six to nine months after a completed course.
Most patients find Profhilo comfortable without anaesthetic. The fine needle and the small number of injection points (ten for the face) make it a significantly more pleasant experience than multi-injection skin booster protocols. Topical numbing cream is available on request for those who prefer it.
Small temporary bumps are visible at each BAP injection point immediately after treatment — these are normal and expected and typically resolve within a few hours to a day. Mild redness and occasional light bruising can occur. These are temporary effects. Serious adverse reactions are rare. We recommend avoiding makeup until the following day and strenuous exercise for 48 hours.
Yes. Profhilo is often recommended as a preventive treatment for patients in their late twenties and thirties who want to maintain their skin’s collagen, hydration and elasticity before significant decline has occurred. Starting treatment earlier means sustaining the quality of the skin proactively rather than working to restore it once it has been lost.
Yes. Profhilo’s high spreadability and gentle, low-injection-count delivery make it well suited to the neck, décolleté and hands — areas where skin is thin and delicate and where some injectable protocols are less practical. The Face & Neck option uses 4ml across both areas.
Results from a completed two-session course typically last six to nine months. Individual results vary depending on age, skin condition, lifestyle and individual response. A maintenance session at six to nine months is recommended to sustain the improvement.
Yes. Profhilo combines well with dermal fillers, anti-wrinkle injections, Sculptra and polynucleotides. It is commonly used as a skin quality foundation alongside structural or volumising treatments. Your practitioner will advise on appropriate sequencing
Profhilo is suitable for most skin types and tones. Its BDDE-free formulation makes it particularly well tolerated. As with all injectable treatments, your medical history and skin will be assessed at consultation to confirm suitability. It is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Because of its unique spreadability. Profhilo’s thermally stabilised, BDDE-free hyaluronic acid does not stay fixed in place like a conventional filler or skin booster — it flows naturally through the surrounding tissue from each injection point, distributing through the dermis and reaching a broad area from each of the ten BAP locations. This is a function of its specific formulation and is what makes the BAP technique effective with so few injection points.
BDDE (1,4-butanediol diglycidyl ether) is the chemical cross-linking agent used to stabilise hyaluronic acid in conventional fillers and many skin boosters. Profhilo is stabilised using a thermal process (NAHYCO Technology) instead, which means it contains no BDDE. This matters because it reduces the risk of adverse reactions associated with chemical cross-linkers and means the HA in Profhilo behaves differently once injected — spreading freely through tissue rather than remaining fixed in place.
